Management Team
President Dr. John Mayer
In case you are wondering about the stuff on my C.V. (professional resume-curriculum vitae), I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from Northwestern University Medical School. In my clinical/consulting work, I have a national reputation for treating teens and families particularly violent or drug abusing teens. I am an author with over 13 books, which includes a novel, over 60 scientific papers and I just had the honor of doing a book for the United Nations last year titled, Creating a Safe and Welcoming School, which will be translated and distributed all over the world to help schools be safe. I have written a newsletter targeted to schools, agencies and parents that addresses the tough issues of helping youth titled, Dr. Mayer’s Memo. It is distributed nationally and is in its 21st year. I have finished my second novel, titled Oblivion, and half-way through writing my third. My latest non-fiction book, Family Fit, is out (Look at our ‘store’ link on this web site). I have been involved with sports my entire life as a participant, coach and clinician. Whew! It is amazing what you can do when you don’t watch television.
I am very enthusiastic about the future of ISPA and look forward to hearing from you and serving your needs. Remember, the office door is always open, just email me at: DrMayer@theSportsProfessionals.com
Executive Director Justin Mayer
It is with great pleasure that I serve as Executive Director of ISPA. My academic background is in psychology where I have a BA in Psychology from the University of Chicago. My sports background spans over 15 years. From the age of 9 I have competed in the Triathlons, often I was the youngest competitor in races, I have completed 4 Ironman Triathlons and 15 Marathons. I have placed in the top three in numerous Triathlons and have one several age group awards. I played varsity baseball in high school as a pitcher. I was recruited to play baseball in college, however, my passion for Triathlon won me over and decided to focus on this and my studies. Sports have always played a big part of my life and I feel their effect was paramount in my development as a more rounded and confident individual. I believe strongly in ISPA’s mission to raise the level of care athletes receive. I have seen first hand the impact that individuals who work with athletes can have and it is vitally important that these individuals adhere to the highest ethics. Feel free to contact me at Justin@theSportsProfessionals.com if you have any questions.

I have been actively involved in playing, coaching and promoting the sport of lacrosse for over 10 years. I continue my efforts in coaching lacrosse to this day with St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago, IL as the Varsity Offensive Coordinator.
